CERRA believes that a strong system of mentoring is vital to support new teachers and improve teacher retention rates in South Carolina.
The State Board of Education approved the new SC Induction and Mentoring Guidelines on December 12, 2017. The new guidelines went into effect during the 2018-2019 academic year.

Please refer to the trainer handbook for additional instructions regarding these materials.

Trainer Handbook
CERRA recognizes that some trainers will be financially unable to purchase a new trainer handbook. A pdf version of the handbook is therefore provided and trainers may print one copy for their own use. It is imperative that copies of the trainer handbook are not given to anyone who has not completed the updated Trainer Certification. We appreciate your support of this rule.

Please list “online” as the location of the training.

We left the estimated times from the traditional training as a general reminder. CERRA and the SDE understand that online discussions may not be as fruitful and trainers may finish an activity in a shorter amount of time.

The "Content and Relevance" information for Section 2 of Module 1 as well as the "Teacher Turnover in South Carolina" data must be updated on an annual basis and are therefore only available on CERRA's Mentor Trainer Hub. The "Content and Relevance" information, as well as the 2021 "Activity: Teacher Turnover in South Carolina" instructions, are included as the first document below. Please follow the activity instructions provided here. Do not use the version included in your handbook. The current "Teacher Turnover In South Carolina" data are included in the fourth file below. The "Supplemental Supply and Demand Data" are included here as an additional resource for trainers. Copies of the "Supplemental Supply and Demand Data" are not needed for the training.

Day 2 Materials
ATLAS®
The activities in Module 5, Section 2 requires access to the ATLAS® videos. Each district's Induction and Mentoring Coordinator has access to the ATLAS® library and trainers must contact their Coordinator to receive the login email address and password. The ATLAS® login page can be found at https://atlas.nbpts.org/login?. ATLAS® videos may only be used for SC Mentor Training. module 4 / section 1
